New sidewalk for part of Sherbourne Road

What's Happening The councillor has recently learned that funding is available for a sidewalk to be constructed on the western side of Sherbourne Road between Carling Avenue and Bromley Road. This sidewalk would fill in the current gap between the sidewalk on Carling and the one that is further up on Sherbourne.

Public Notice to Residents of Faraday Street, Harmer Avenue & Island Park Crescent

What's Happening The work schedule for the Cave Creek Collector Construction has been adapted. Work will still start later this summer but work will most likely only be done on Harmer this year. The rest of the work should be completed the following year in 2011.

Carling Avenue Rehabilitation (from Merivale Rd. to Lady Ellen Pl.) Open House

What's Happening The City of Ottawa has initiated the design assignment for the integrated road, sewer and watermain construction on Carling Avenue and Merivale Road. The intent of this project is to relocate the existing water transmission main along the Queensway in advance of proposed MTO projects on the highway. This project is being planned as a Schedule A+ under the Municipal Class EA. A meeting is being held to provide information to the residents and affected property owners of Carling Avenue and Merivale Road regarding the proposed works and to receive input and comments from interested parties.

Notice of Temporary Bus Route 2 Modifications due to Wellington Street W. Reconstruction

What's Happening Bus Route 2 service on Wellington Street West between Parkdale Avenue and Somerset Street West and on Somerset Street West between Wellington Street West and Bayswater Avenue is being temporarily disrupted due to the roadway reconstruction project on Wellington Street West and on Somerset Street West, and the resulting traffic restrictions on these roadway segments. Temporary Westbound Lane Restrictions on Wellington Street West

What's Happening Wellington Street West between Parkdale Avenue and Somerset Street West and Somerset Street West between Wellington Street West and Bayswater Avenue will be reduced to one lane in the eastbound direction only. Westbound vehicle traffic will be prohibited in this segment of Somerset Street West and Wellington Street West. This detour will be in effect from May 25 to June 11. Tweedsmuir Avenue (between Carling Ave. and Clare St.) Construction Notice

What's Happening The City of Ottawa has awarded this contract to Louis W. Bray Construction Ltd. to carry out the construction on the proposed watermain, sewers and roadway on Tweedsmuir Avenue between Clare Street and Carling Avenue including the construction of a new sidewalk along the west side of the road. This Stimulus funded project is anticipated to start in early May and will be completed by November 15, 2010.

Somerset Street Reconstruction Detours

What's Happening Work is getting underway on this year’s stretch of the Wellington Street West/Somerset Street reconstruction. Work will start where it left off last year at Spadina Avenue and continue to Preston Street. The detours will be adapted as construction moves down the street.

Churchill Road Reconstruction Phase 1 Detours

What's Happening The City of Ottawa has developed the official detour for residents to use instead of taking Churchill Avenue during the construction this spring. Part of Scott Street will be affected from just west of Athlone Avenue to Churchill. Churcill between Scott and Byron Ave. will also be under construction. Some of the detours along Scott Street have already come into effect.

Update: Tweedsmuir Reconstruction

What's Happening Following the Tweedsmuir Avenue reconstruction public open house on Jan. 18, there were some concerns expressed again regarding the sidewalk proposed for the street. Councillor Leadman has been working with residents regarding this issue and is encouraging residents to submit their comments about the planned work.
